Crinone

Crinone is a gel that contains a hormone called progesterone, which prepares the lining of your uterus for implantation and pregnancy. Oftentimes, fertility medications affect your progesterone levels. You may be prescribed a progesterone supplement to make up for this decrease when it's time for the transfer. Crinone gel is inserted vaginally using an applicator. Some clinics or doctors may prescribe different forms of progesterone as an alternative.

Prep

Check each item off as you go!

Wash your hands with soap and water.

Remove the applicator and the plunger from the sealed wrapper. Don’t remove the twist-off cap from the applicator yet

Set

Hold the applicator between your thumb and forefinger and push the plunger into the applicator until the plunger snaps into place.

Remove the cap from the tip of the applicator by twisting it counterclockwise. Be sure not to push the plunger while doing this.

To insert, you may lie on your back with your knees bent, or sit on the edge of your bed or in a chair with your knees apart.

Insert

Once you're in a comfortable position, gently insert the rounded tip of the applicator into your vagina.

While the applicator is in your vagina, push the plunger to release the gel.

Remove the applicator and discard.
