Make sure your skin is dry before applying. Avoid putting lotion on the area of the skin you plan to place the patch before applying.

I noticed some sticky residue left on my skin where I applied the estrogen patch. What can I do about this?
Coconut oil, tea tree oil or eye makeup remover can be used to help with the sticky residue at the application site after removal.
How can I prevent itching and skin irritation?
Alternating the site you place your patch on will help make using estrogen patches more comfortable.
How can I make sure my estrogen patches stay on?
Make sure your skin is dry before applying. It can also help to exfoliate your skin gently prior to applying the patches. Press the patch firmly into your skin for about ten seconds when applying to make sure the adhesive sticks.
Where should I apply estrogen patches?
Try avoiding areas of the body where you bend frequently, such as joints or your hips. Many patients find their upper thigh works well. Ask your provider what will work best for you.
